Autonomous Security Wizard

The Autonomous Security Wizard offers the most hands-off method to initiate inventory discovery. It’s designed to streamline the process with minimal user input, making it an ideal starting point.

To begin, navigate to the Autonomous Wizard from the left-hand menu.

Wizard Overview

The wizard interface is divided into three sections, each serving a specific role in inventory configuration:

1\. Environment Selection (Optional)

At the top of the page, you can select the environment in which your workloads are hosted. The supported environments include:

  • Azure Cloud
  • AWS Cloud
  • Google Cloud
  • Kubernetes Cluster
  • On-premise or Unmanaged Cloud

While this step is optional, selecting an environment will prompt the system to request credentials or configuration details on the next screen. For example, if you choose Azure Cloud, you’ll be asked to provide authentication credentials to enable access.

2\. External Domain Name (Optional)

The second section allows you to input your company’s external domain name. It is recommended to enter your primary domain (e.g., example.com) to enhance discovery capabilities.

Note: You must provide input in either section 1 or section 2 (or both) to proceed.

3\. Collection Name (Required)

In the final section, you must specify a Collection Name. Think of a collection as a logical container or folder where all discovered assets and associated data will be grouped.

You may use any naming convention that fits your organization—for example:

  • Client name
  • Project title
  • Department
  • Engagement ID

Additionally, collections act as permission boundaries within the system, helping you manage access control more effectively.

Starting the Discovery Process

Depending on your selections:

  • If you only complete Section 2, you may immediately click Submit to launch the process.
  • If you select any environment in Section 1, clicking Submit will direct you to a follow-up screen to provide the required environment-specific credentials.

For test purposes, try entering a primary domain, assign a meaningful collection name, and click Submit.

The system will then begin configuring your Prancer environment:

`Collection Name: col-2025-07-28-19-56-29

After this step, click Close to be redirected to the Collection Management page, where results are filtered to show the collection you just created.

Reviewing Discovered Assets

From the collection page:

1. Click the hamburger menu.

2. Select Assets to view the inventory generated during the scan.

Depending on the number of subdomains or cloud resources identified, it may take a few minutes for results to appear. Use the Refresh button periodically to check for updates.

Special Case: On-Premise or Unmanaged Cloud

If you selected On-premise or Unmanaged Cloud, the system does not perform automatic discovery. Instead, it provides you with a command-line script that you’ll need to run within your own environment. This script will identify relevant hosts and help generate the asset inventory.

We will explore this process in detail in the upcoming modules.
